Chemical abundances in Seyfert galaxies – VI. Empirical abundance calibration

چکیده
ABSTRACT We derived a bi-dimensional calibration between the emission-line ratios $R_{23}= ([\mathrm{ O}\, {\small {\rm II}}]\,\lambda 3726 +\lambda 3729 +[\mathrm{ O}\mathrm{ }\, III}}]\,\lambda 4959 + \lambda 5007)/\rm H\,\beta$, ${\it P}=[([\mathrm{ 4959+\lambda 5007)/{\rm H}\,\beta ]/R_{23}$ and oxygen abundance relative to hydrogen (O/H) in gas phase of Seyfert 1 2 nuclei. In view this, intensity for sample objects taken from Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 7 measured by MPA/JHU group direct estimates O/H based on Te-method, adapted active galactic nuclei (AGNs), are considered. find no variation R23 observed along radii AGNs, which shows that this line ratio is good indicator class considered work. The = f(R23, P) relation produces values similar estimations via Te-method wide range metallicities [$\rm 8.0 \: \lesssim 12+\log \,(O/H) 9.2$]. Conversely star-forming regions high-metallicity regime, positive correlation trend with AGNs. This indicates hardness ionizing radiation not affected these or narrow-line significantly modified changes spectral energy distribution due metallicity variations.

Chemical Abundances in Virgo Spiral Galaxies
Received ; accepted 1 Based on observations obtained at the Multiple Mirror Telescope, a joint facility of the University of Arizona and the Smithsonian Institution. ABSTRACT We present new measurements of chemical abundances in H II regions in spiral galaxies of the Virgo cluster and a comparison of Virgo galaxies and eld spirals. With these new data there now exist nine Virgo spirals with abu...
متن کاملAn empirical calibration of sulphur abundance in ionised gaseous nebulae
We have derived an empirical calibration of the abundance of S/H as a function of the S23 parameter, defined using the bright sulphur lines of [SII] and [SIII]. Contrary to what is the case for the widely used O23 parameter, the calibration remains single valued up to the abundance values observed in the disk HII regions. The calibration is based on a large sample of nebulae for which direct de...
متن کاملSeyfert Galaxies and BeppoSAX
In this review, rather than present and discuss in detail the first results obtained by BeppoSAX (see Boella et al. 1997 for an overall description of the mission) on Seyfert galaxies (these results are presented in detail elsewhere in this volume, see in particular the contributions by Perola, Comastri and Salvati), I will discuss current ideas on the X–ray emission of both type 1 and 2 object...
متن کاملNew Infrared Seyfert Galaxies
We present optical spectra for new infrared Seyfert galaxies obtained with the 2.16m telescope at Bei-jing Astronomical Observatory (BAO). After wavelength and flux calibration, they are classified by the degree of nuclear activity: nine Seyfert 2 and three Seyfert 3 galaxies. In addition, by using the data from de Grijp et al.(1992), we find that (1) there exists a tight correlation between lu...
متن کاملJet directions in Seyfert galaxies
Here we present the study of the relative angle between the accretion disk (or radio jet) and the galaxy disk for a sample of Seyfert galaxies selected from a mostly isotropic property, the 60μm flux, and warm infrared colors. We used VLA A-array 3.6cm continuum data and ground based optical imaging, homogeneously observed and reduced to minimize selection effects. For parts of the analysis we ...
